The Youth Compass Project

“I hated the idea that there were no more Mandela’s”

“Why do you need to wait until you are 70 to worry about your legacy? Why aren’t you worrying about it when you are 21?”

Simon Sinek

The Youth Compass Project is an invitation to every young person in the world to Lead, Love and Leave a Legacy.

Organisational leaders begin with the end in mind and the same is true of leading your own life. The end in mind for a person’s life for millennia was that they would become an elder within their community – a person who has learned to Lead, to Love, and Leave a Legacy. People of perspective, wisdom, humility, forgiveness, empathy, courage, compassion, generosity and justice.

If a young person leaves school to enter the adult world focused on their image, or success, then they end up pursuing a life that is often reactionary, tactical short-termism, having little meaning and with no idea who they will be in the latter chapters of their life.

With a goal of eldership – Leading, Loving and Leaving a Legacy - a young person can leave school, or invest in those early adult years, with a purpose, a direction, a compass, a clear sense across their whole life span of who they are becoming, pursuers of mastery more than success, investors in who they are as much as what they do; people with a strong frame of reference in order to wisely navigate all the decisions across their life span.
